Marketplaces / THE PRACTICAL CHECKLIST

Facebook Marketplace reviews

For a peer-to-peer listing, prioritize the actual item, its condition, and the proposed transaction. Past feedback is context, not an inspection.

What to look for

Ask specific questions about condition, ownership evidence where relevant, included accessories, and whether the functions you need can be demonstrated. A seller’s historical feedback cannot show the condition of the item currently in front of you.

Make the review useful

Plan verification and the transaction before committing. Read the applicable payment and protection terms for that exact arrangement rather than assuming all marketplace purchases work the same way. Keep communication and records appropriate to the platform and the purchase.

Keep the limits in view

Do not use an appealing profile or a single reassuring message as a substitute for checking the item. Avoid making claims about a seller’s identity or intent from superficial profile details. An unresolved essential is a reason to pause.

Can past feedback guarantee the current item?

No. It may offer context about earlier transactions, but the current item’s condition, contents, and terms require their own checks.
