Read written feedback alongside the app’s version, territory, and your intended task. The headline rating is only an entry point.
What to look for
Apple explains that summary ratings are territory-specific and can be reset for a release while written reviews remain. Read those signals in context rather than assuming every visible number and comment describes the same period.
Make the review useful
Look for accounts about the features and environment you plan to use. Then test the current app with a bounded task. Inspect support access, data handling questions, and how the workflow behaves when something goes wrong.
Keep the limits in view
Do not infer that a reset proves misconduct or that a high rating certifies suitability. A review may be honest but unrelated to your needs. The current configuration still requires its own trial.
Do old written reviews vanish when a rating resets?
Apple’s guidance says resetting the summary rating does not reset written reviews. That is one reason to read dates and versions alongside the displayed rating.
